Chief Officer
As Chief Officer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring safe and efficient operations onboard our vessels. Acting as the second in command, you will assist the Master in achieving operational excellence while maintaining compliance with safety, maritime, and environmental regulations. You will lead by example, mentor crew members, and contribute to the successful completion of offshore projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure safe, environmentally responsible vessel operations during your watch, including stability and trim management.
- Act as second in command and represent the Master in their absence.
- Oversee the maintenance and testing of deck, safety, lifesaving, and bridge equipment.
- Implement and enforce Acta Marine’s Integrated Management System, company policies, and the Ship Security Plan.
- Act as Ship Security Officer and maintain ISPS administration.
- Collaborate with the Chief Engineer on pre-planning bunkering and tank rotation.
- Assist the master in emergency situations and provide medical aid when required.
- Mentor and familiarize bridge and deck crew with their roles and responsibilities.
- Maintain compliance with national and international maritime laws and regulations.
- Provision of medical aid in case of accident.
- Optimising of the production and the continuity of the vessel.
Required Skills and Competences
- Identifies the desires and needs of our clients and acts accordingly considering the costs and benefits for Acta Marine.
- Giving direction to the crew in a result-oriented way by formulating clear goals, monitor the progress and correct crew if necessary.
- Works effectively towards a common goal, also in cases when it does not serve a personal interest.
- Understands and uses safe working practices and personal shipboard safety procedures at any time.
- Communicates effectively with all personnel involved in operations. Adjusts communication to the level of the other person. Managing personal emotions and stress.
Who are we looking for?
- Certification in accordance with relevant STCW Code (II/2) and Flag State regulations.
- DP Unlimited certificate.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in the offshore wind industry
