Coastal Challenger challenged

16 December 2022

Recently C-Ventus chartered the Acta Marine Dynamically Positioned vessel Coastal Challenger for a short campaign placing gravel bags as protective cover on a subsea cable.

The vessel was mobilized to Ijmuiden, equipped with an acoustic subsea positioning sensor and transponder on the crane hook to establish the correct subsea position.

Peter van Veen, general manager operations at C-Ventus explains: “We know from past experience that Acta Marine is a flexible partner for these jobs. Acta Marine has a fleet of smaller DP vessels which are well suited and a cost-effective solution for short fly-by campaigns like this.

As a number of conditions needed to line up positively, like availability of resources and equipment, weather and permits, it is always a challenge to finalise the planning for these campaigns, but Acta Marine has proven to be very supportive with this.” Acta Marine’s commercial manager Bert de Ruiter adds: “We work with a great number of offshore contractors and service providers; hence we have knowledge about charterer’s needs in many different fields of activity. Off course we try and support our clients where possible with our own expertise.”

Completing the campaign took a total of two days, including mobilization and demobilization of all equipment.
