Acta Marine orders Shoalbuster 3209

1 March 2010

Acta Marine has signed a contract with Damen Shipyard for building and delivery of a 45 tonnes Anchor Handling Tug of the standard Damen Shoalbuster 3209 class. The 3209 type is the largest of the Damen Shoalbuster class workboats that are currently in operation.

The new vessel, which will be named Coastal Vanguard, will be delivered to Acta Marine at the end of December this year.

Acta Marine anticipates strong demand for the new vessel, particularly in the offshore energy market, like the construction of offshore windparks and cable & pipeline projects. The Coastal Vanguard will be a versatile workboat, suitable for a variety of jobs like anchor handling, towage, supply work and other marine support services. The new vessel will have a length of 32 meters and a width of 9 meters. An additional 2 meters length, compared to most other vessels of her class, results in additional workdeck and fuel capacity (total 220 cubic meters), further to the 40 cubic meters fresh water capacity. The total propulsion power will be 3300 bhp/2460 kW, generating a bollard pull of more than 45 tonnes. The Coastal Vanguard will furthermore be equipped with a 100 tonnes anchor handling winch and a 140 tonmeter deck crane. Accommodation can be provided for up to 7 persons in 5 cabins.

This new investment will further strengthen our leading position as owners and worldwide operators of workboats.
