Nord Stream project
Six different Acta Marine workboats were deployed during the construction of Nord Stream. These vessels were combined with four additional rental vessels.
The Nord Stream is a 1220 kilometer long gas transportation pipeline running from the Russian city of Vyborg to the German city of Greifswald. The Coastal Discovery, Coastal Explorer, Coastal Surveyor 2, Coastal Thunder, Sara Maatje XVI, and the Coastal Liner were operated during the Nord Stream project.
A new strategy turned out to be successful: the Coastal Discovery was deployed as a spray pontoon with Dynamic Position (DP); no anchoring required. It saved a significant amount of time.
This project had a duration of two years, was completed in 2011, and consisted of: survey operations, acting as a spray pontoon with Dynamic Positioning, crew transfers and dredging assistance.
