Deck Equipment Operator | Ampelmann
Are you passionate about maritime operations and ensuring the optimal use of mission equipment?
Acta Marine is looking for a skilled and dedicated Ampelmann Deck Equipment Operator (DEO) to join our team. As a DEO, you will be responsible for the maintenance and operation of all Acta Marine mission equipment, including the Ampelmann cargo and motion compensated crane. Your role is crucial in ensuring that all assigned equipment is used in compliance with safety, maritime, and environmental regulations at all times.
Key Responsibilities
- Arranging toolbox meetings with the client on board the vessel
- Crane and gangway operations
- Familiarising and mentoring DEO Juniors and DEO Trainees
- PMS, executing and documenting planned maintenance
- Assisting and facilitating troubleshooting with engineers & shore technicians
- Housekeeping
- Informing clients when safety procedures are not followed
- Work in line with the QHSSE Policy of Acta Marine.
- Remain up to date on international regulations and standards such as LOLER, IMCA and British Standards.
- Optimize vessel production and continuity, ensuring efficient operations.
Required Skills and Competences
- Identifies the desires and needs of our clients and acts accordingly considering the costs and benefits for Acta Marine.
- Understands and uses safe working practices and personal shipboard safety procedures at any time.
- Communicates effectively with all personnel involved in operations. Adjusts communication to the level of the other person.
- Keeping calm and managing stress levels in emergency situations.
Who are we looking for?
- Certification according to the relevant STCW code, flag state regulations and ship type
- Offshore Crane Operator Certificate Stage 3 – certified in accordance with BS7121 or OPITO
- Ampelmann Operator A/E-type
- E-1000 type Ampelmann System Certificate (Crane Module)
- Strong English communication skills – both verbal and written
