Third Officer
As a Third Officer onboard Acta Marine vessels, you will support safe and efficient vessel operations in compliance with maritime, safety, and environmental regulations. You will assist in navigational watchkeeping, maintenance of safety and lifesaving equipment, and general deck operations. In this role, you will also ensure that assigned equipment is used in such a manner that optimal production is achieved in compliance with safety, maritime, and environmental regulations at all times. Working closely with the Second Officer and other crew members, you will contribute to a safe and productive working environment onboard.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain sailing in a safe, maritime correct/responsible and environmentally friendly way during the watch.
- Maintain ships administration (e.g. ships log, daily report).
- Maintaining the garbage management log.
- Acting as safety officer and chairman of safety committee.
- Maintain the safety and environmental regulations on board.
- Maintenance and testing of Safety equipment.
- Maintenance and testing of Lifesaving equipment.
- Implementation and execution of the Acta Marine Integrated Management System and company policy as well as the Standing Instructions and the Ship Security Plan.
- Comply with national and international maritime law and regulations.
- Optimising of the production and the continuity of the vessel.
Required Skills and Competences
- Identifies the desires and needs of our clients and acts accordingly considering the costs and benefits for Acta Marine.
- Giving direction to the crew in a result-oriented way by formulating clear goals, monitor the progress and correct crew if necessary.
- Works effectively towards a common goal, also in cases when it does not serve a personal interest.
- Understands and uses safe working practices and personal shipboard safety procedures at any time.
- Communicates effectively with all personnel involved in operations. Adjusts communication to the level of the other person. Managing personal emotions and stress.
Who are we looking for?
- Certification according relevant STCW Code (II/1) and Flag State regulations.
- DP Induction or Advanced certificate.
- Minimum 1 year of sailing experience.
